________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir (xv) KALIDASA CHAYANI: Very little is known about Kalidasa Chayani throngh his small ghai 1.He is still regarded as an authority in matters of great or purification in all the Oriya speaking tracts. Manuscripts of this work with either commentaries in Sanskrit or translation in Oriya prose or verse are found in all parts of the State. This prescribes Hila of 12 days after death for all castes of people, which is followed in Orissa, where as in Bengal azila of different periods for different castes is prescribed. As regards the date of Kalidasa this much can be said that he flourished before Narasimha Vajapeyi (1520-1570 A. D.) who respectfully refers to him in his Nityachara Pradipa as " feara tufaa:" There are three manuscripts of this work Dh/20, Dh/48 (a), Dh/68 in onr collections. YOGISVARA PATRA:-; Yogisvara Patra was an officer under King Nisasika BhaniDeva, the last Canga sovereign of Orissa (1413 to 1434 A. An incomplete manuscript of this work is preserved in the mano.soripts library of the Asiatic Society of Bengal and has been roviewed in their catalogue (27). It is not yet known whether he compiled any other work except "Trataract" THE FAMILY OF GODAVARA MISRA AND NARASIMHA VAJAPEYI: All branches of Sanskrit literature greately developed in Orissa un ler the patronage of the Mightly Emperors of the 'Surya varsa', that ruled over Orissa for about a century (1435 to 1535 A, D.).
