viz., Rsabha, Santi, Nemi, Parsva and Mahavira, one by one. Thus this is a collection of five small hymns. Of them the first three consist of 7 verses, each written in 7 languages viz. संस्कृत, मरहट्टी (माहाराष्ट्री), सोरसेणी (शौरसेनी ), मामही (मागधी), पेसाई (पैशाची), चूलियापेसाई (चूलिकापशाची) and अवम्भंस (अपभ्रंश) respectively. Each of the last two hymns has six verses and they are written in six languages viz. ( I-5) संस्कृत to पेसाई and अवभंस. At the end there is one verse in Sanskrit. It says that this composition is written in six languages. This difference of opinion can be reconciled if Pesăi and Culiyāpesāi are looked upon as

श्रीणां प्रीणातु दानः प्रथमजिनपतिनाभिभूर्भुवःस्वः
सेवाहेबाकिनाकिप्रभुमुकुटतटस्पृष्टपादारविंदः। भूतो भावि (बी) भवन् वाऽनणुरप्यु(ण)रपि वा भावराशिः समस्तो
य(ज)ज्ञाने तुल्यकालं प्रतिफलति यथा स्वस्वरूपव्यवस्थं ।। १॥ जेणं भारहखि (त्ति) [झित्त झत्ति बबि(वि)पं सद्धम्मबीअंतया
एगेणा वि तहा पसंतहियओ सो पुंडरीओ कओ। मो 'अट्टावय'पिट्टिसंट्रियतणू पत्तो परं णिवुई।
देवाणं पडम अपुच्च(व्व)वसहं भत्तीइं(इ) बंदामि तं ॥२॥ प्राकृतः।
