The names of the 36 adhyayanas mentioned in Samaväyängasútra ( sútra 36, p. 64 ) and in the niryukti ( v.13172) to Urtarādhyayanasūtra differ at times from these. In this connection it may be added that the names of the adhyayanas 3, 4, 7, 10 and 26 can be mentioned as examples of a naman ( name) by ādānapada (one of the ten types) noted in the 13th sūtra of Anuyogadvärasútra.3

The ninth adhyayana of this text can be compared with the Mahābhārata ( XII, 178, 2) and the Buddhistic Jātaka No. 539 g. 125 ( Fausboll's edn). The 12th adhyayana
