Description.— Country paper; Devanāgarī characters; handwritinglegible; two lines in black ink on either border; marks of punctuation, topics and last topic are tinged with red pigment ; paper old and musty; first fol. wanting.
A comprehensive manual for funeral rites dealing with prāyaścitta dāha, āhitāgnidāha, srāddha, Nārāyanabali, oxsotsarga, brahmacārimarana, vasuganaśvāddha, etc., by Viśvanatha, son of jyotirvid Govala and belonging to Gomativālajñāti. The work is meant for the followers of madhyandini-śākhā of Yajurveda. The work comes to an end on fol. 120", where we read the following colophon:इति श्रीमद्गोमतीवालज्ञातीयज्योतिर्विद्गोवालात्मजविश्वनाथकृते और्ध्वदेहिकपद्धतिः समाप्तः । This is followed by 5 leaves containing Nagabali with a list of things required for the ceremony. The work was formerly named as Samkhyāyanapaddhati in Bhandarkar's Catalogue. But that was incorrect. Hence the correct name has been given.
