Commentary on Chapter VIII प्राकृताध्यायवृत्तिः of Sabdānusāsana of Hemacandra No. 303

legible writing, generally correct. Margins ruled, red
chalk frequently used. Complete. Age - New copy (Samvat 1940 ). Author - In the introductory verses and in the various colophons
the work is attributed to Samantabhadra; but the Sütras as well as the wording of the commentary is the same as
No. 294 above. Consequently, either the statement of the present Ms. is incorrect, or we must suppose that it is Samantabhadra and not Hemacandra who wrote the commentary on Chapter VIII of the Haimaśabdānuśāsana. The ascription of a प्राकृतव्याकरण to Samantabhadra in Dr. Aufrecht's Catalogus Catalogorum is based on the Devanagari list appended to Dr. Peterson's report for 1883-84, but the same list as given in English says that 'समंतभद्र
in list No. I is a mistake' (p. 20, foot-note). Begins - ॐ नमः सिद्धेभ्यः ।
प्रणम्यादिजिन विष्णु संसारार्णवतारकम् ।
वक्ष्ये समंतभद्रोहं प्राकृतं शब्दशासनम् ॥१॥
अयशब्द आनंतर्यार्थोधिकारार्थश्च etc. Ends - ततो घायुष्मच्छ्रोतृकताभ्युदयश्चेति ॥ इत्याचार्यश्रीसमंतभद्रविरचिताया
प्राकृतव्याकर्णे प्रणमशोसनवृत्तौ(?) चतुर्थपादः समाप्तोयं ग्रंथः ॥ (Elsewhere it is इति"विरचिते प्राकृतव्याकरणे रवोपज्ञशासनवृत्तौ etc.॥) संवत् १९४० वर्षे मितिमाधवदि ५ वसंत ॥ लि. कृतं लेखक गणेशब्राह्मणगुर्जर गौडः ॥ ग्रंथाग्रंथ संवत् १२२० श्लोक ३२२०॥ शुभं भवतु ॥ The figures however look suspicious, and it is not clear if the present is a copy of a Ms. of Samvat 1220.
