important Jain communities sprang up all over Rajputana, at Srimal, Jalor, Osia, Chitor, Arbuda (Mt. Ābū) Patan-Anhilavāda, etc. and in the time of Udayotana sūri (early 10th century) all the 84 gachhas of the Svetāmbaras had already come into existence.
P. 30. The cult of Durgā Mahishmardini (or Chamundā) is the oldest still existing in Rajputana, though in Bikaner proper it was superseded by Jain adaptations like Ambikā or Sūsani. Susāni.
