INGIHE MYSTERYLANDE UNIVERSITARUN TANISME495 1- hot dark matter (HDM <http://astro.berkeley.edu/-mwhite/darkmatter/hdm.html>) and 1 - cold dark matter (CDM),
CDM candidates travel at slow speeds (hence "cold") or have little pressure, while HDM candidates move rapidly (hence "hot").
These characteristics are by and large similar to the definition of various kinds of varganas, which we have described earlier based on their number density, and parmanu characteristics such as shubh and ashubh. Thus, it may be strongly inferred that the dark matter and dark energy being discussed in current cosmological observations and models are the varganas described in Jainism. This conclusion may help the modern cosmology to solve the current physics problem of red
shift, acceleration and the form of invisible universe. However, elements of jain con1 cepts including varganas need to quantifying to explain the mystery more precisely 1 and satisfactorily. 1 Thus we conclude that both science and philosophy appeared after reli
gion, and both attempt to give answers that are no doubt clearer than religion's. However, both of them fail to give answers that are satisfactory and fulfilling on an overall basis, which is why religion still exists and still provides an answer based on faith in general but Jainism on facts.
Acknowledgments
This investigation is an outcome of extensive discussions with many Jain saints particularly with Acharya Vijay Sheel Chandra Suriji and Muni Kalyan Kirti Vijayji. I express my sincere respects "Namostu" to them. Encouragement from Achrya Kanajnandi ji gurudev motivated me to conceive the objectives of this investigation. I Opportunity provided by Dr. Shekhar Chandra Jain to undertake this investigation is highly appreciated. I express sincere thanks to my colleagues Dr. Hari Om Vats and I Prof. S. P. Gupta for reading the manuscript critically and giving valuable sugges- | tions.
