UNRAVELING THE MYSTERY OF THE UNIVERSE THROUGH JAINISM
Dr. Rajmal Jain (Ahmedabad) ABSTRACT: We describe in detail the current mystery of the universe related to the matter, which is not visible and referred as dark matter and dark energy. The modern observations reveal that the visible universe is extremely small and it may be less than 5%. We present the properties and characteristics of dark matter and dark energy that form the invisible universe. We attempt to unravel the mystery of this invisible universe, which show acceleration and gravitational hold of the mass in various parts of the universe, through existing scientific concepts of Jainism. An extensive description of Jainism foundation concepts is presented. We describe salient features of Jainism in general and varganas in particular. We interpret that varganas in Jainism are the same as dark matter/ dark energy. However many of the varganas are not visible as the parmanu from which they are composed of has extremely small cross section of the order of 10-41 + 10-3 cm2, which cannot be seen by current instruments. The mystery of the acceleration in the universe and gravitational pull to hold the material in the celestial objects may be satisfactorily understood in context to presence of Dharma and Adharma Dravya in the universe at a given density in the space and time. However, it is essential to quantifying the characteristics f varganas and other fundamental elements of Jain concepts of the universe in order to successful and precise understanding of the paradigm. 1. Introduction:
It has been emphasizes by many saints and scholars of Jainism that fundamentals of Jainism are deeply rooted into science. However, since centuries it has been a matter of curiosity to understand the depth of science in the Jainism as well as, on the other hand, though insignificantly, the science through Jainism. Most of the efforts were done in explaining the discoveries of
