with न वै गावो मागीरस्य. Bh reads ताः प्राची: सचगाहिरे Vaitanasātra 34.9 reads ताः 4184: H IST. The third verse in the same sūtra reads the first line as 2G TÊ वदतो ग्राम्यमतिरसाकसैजनस्य. Bh reads साकंसौजनस्य. All this is corrupt.
II. 2. 5. 47- Huisi teref Tosoft Bh (folio not numbered, A8) reads निनयंति in place of यथार्थं गच्छन्ति. Mans's VII. 2.7.10 has निनीय प्रतिपरियन्ति ApS'S XXI 20. 5 reads 3G TYYTYfir yere tafel. In the Mahāvrata sacrifice, there is an interesting rite in which, according to VārśS. III. 2. 5. 46-47 four or six or eight maid-servants walk around the Mārjālīya mound four times while each of the four verses is being recited four times, and strike their feet on the ground saying, “This is honey, this is honey." Having gone around the Mārjālīya mound each time, they pour down water from their pitchers and at last they depárt. Here the verbal form ninayanti (they pour down water) is essential in compassion with the relevant passages from the Māns's and ĀPS's. The words zeel of are also necessary.
III. 2. 5. 49-fevra: Hay Tae: efen Tery cafen: * faezf. The word HGIGYTET: is corrupt. Here Bh. (folio not numbered A9) reads HURRICE: which also is corrupt. There is no parallel construction in the Māns's and the ApS'S, hence I am not able to reconstruct the word.
III. . 4. &?-TE 949-14 hd 9487246 E 97 RIH 75 94H भक्षयाम्यन्नाद्यं ते भक्षयामि प्रजां मे भक्षयामि प्रतिष्ठां भक्षयामि इति ॥ Instead of प्रजां मे भक्षयामि प्रतिपणं भक्षयामि Bh (folio not numbered B7-9) reads प्रजां ते भक्षयामि प्रतिष्ठां ते भक्षयामि sfa which seems to be correct. The formulas are not registered in Bloomfield's Vedic Concordance.
Śautrāmaņi
III. 2. 8. 48-ÈCT 49€574 sfa ftyfucaqtoriefa gaifa y Bh (115 A10) reads To Eat Elfa. Māns's V. P. 88.34 reads a caesafufagyfaf4: urch Hfileguzifista rentojala i MS. III. II covers the mantras to be employed in the Kaukilī Śautrāmaņi. In MS. III. II. 10 the mantras beginning with heqi etc. concern the Avabhrtha. The fourth and the fifth verses respectively are
1 and 27 TH. VārŚs. III. P. C. 80 reads : 112C UTA a histed This implies that the first three verses beginning with al are to be employed in offering oblations. The Māns's therefore rightly says fra hentuelfa. The Bh-reading “मेष्यन्नाहुती जुहोति, therefore, requires to be emended as मेष्यन्नाहुतीजुहोति.
