Authors and Subjects Studied in Rājasthān vivēka, Kiranävali and Nynyapariģistha, of which Kiranāvali especially must have been very popular. It was studied by the Kharatara acharya, Jinavallabhat as well as Pradyumna Sūri of the line of Vadidēva Sūri." Jayanta's Nyayamañjarī, an independent commentary on the Nyayasūtras of Akşapāda, may also have been studied in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Jayanta shares with Udayana the honour of being attacked by Vadi Dāva Sūri, though in his estimation he was no equal of the elephantlike Udayana. Kaņáda, as pointed above, was criticised by Nēmichandra." In his Nyāyakandalipanjikā, Ratnasekhara speaks of Kanada, his commentator, Pragasta karadēva (Prasastapida ), and the sub-commentaries, Vyomavati of Vyomsra váohārya, Nyayakandali of Sridhara, Kirarávali of Udayana and Lilavati of Vatsáchārya. The author of the Panjikā studied the Nyayakandali with Jinaprabha Sūri, Jinavallabha and Pradyumna Sûri both read it.3 The Kharataragachchhapattavali refers to Sridhara's view on the nature of darkness. The young Kharatara achārya Jinachandra is said to have studied qalara, and defeated Padmachandracharya of Rudrapalli in a debate about it." Copies of the Nyāyakandali have been found in many Jain Bhandārs. Vamēśvaradhvaja's Nyayakusumānjalisankēta, though now little khown, was a work of no little merit. We have palm-leaf and paper MSS of it in Rajasthan as well as Gujarat. *6 Bha-Sarvajňa 18 represented by his Nyāyasūra and Nyayabhusana." Khandanakhanda-ichūdyaka of Harsa probably reached Rajasthan early enough. There is a copy of it at Jaisalmēr, dated V. 1291.48 The Sangha Bhandar at Pattan has a commentary on it by Anubhavašvarūp.
