________________ श्रीमद् विजयराजेन्द्रसूरि - स्मारक - ग्रंथ more prakirnakas, the Paryuṣaṇakalpa, Jitakalpasūtra, Sraddhajitakalpa, Paksikasutra, Vandittusutra, Ksamanasutra, Yatijitakalpa, and the Risibhasita, thus bringing the total number of Sruta-works to 84. ८४२ This sruta literature was the basis of many commentaries and sub-commentaries by authors, of whom some were Rajasthanis and others non-Rajasthanis whose works were studied in Rajasthan. If we confine ourselves to our period, we have to mention first Haribhadra Suri of Chitor who commented on the Anuyogadvarasutra, Āvasyakasutra, Dašavaikalikasutra, Nandisutra, and Prajñāpanāsutra. Of the early Jain writers mentioned by him, Jinadasa Mahattara, Jinabhadra Kṣamaéramana Děvaváchaka, Bhadrabahu and Sanghadása Gaņi, respectively, wrote the Nandisutra-churni (676 A. D.) and Nisithasutrachurni'; Visesuvasyakabhāṣya (609 A. D.); Nandisutra'; the 12 Niryuktis; and the Vyavaharabhasya, Brhatkalpabhasya, and Panchakalpabhasya. Reference to these authors is important as showing that even as early Haribhadra's time Jain scriptures were being intensively studied in Rajasthan. the Siddharṣi Sūri, another great Rajasthani scholar, wrote a commentary on the Upadēšamāla. Silanka Suri's commentary on Acharanga-sutra has received respectful mention in the Ganadharasardhasataka." It may therefore be presumed to have been popular in the Rajasthani Kharataragachchha circles. Vardhaman Sūri (died 1021 A. D.) wrote the Upadesamālābrhadvrtti, Vardhamana's disciple, Abhayadeva Süri, is known as the "Navängavrttikära" to distinguish him from other Abhayadevas. He wrote wonderfully lucid and learned commentaries on the angas, the Jnatadharmakatha, Sthānanga (1064 A. D.) Samavāyānga (1064 A. D.), Bhagavati (1072 A. D.), Upasakadasa, Antakrddasā, Anuttaropapätikadasä, Prasnavyakarana, and Vipaka. These were studied not only in Kharataragachha circles 2. Some more quo are ascribed to him. 3. Writer also of जितकल्पसूत्र. 4. Composed at time of the वलभीवाचना. 5. Different from the author of वसुदेवहिन्डी. 6. JSI, p. 186. 7. Verse 60 8. Catalogue of the Palm-leaf MSS. in the Jain Bhandara of Jaisalmer.
