viii. Antaraya karma which obstructs charity, prosperity, pleasures and the prowess of the soul.
Out of these eight karmas divided into two fold-ghati and aghāti. Ghāti karmas are those which an encased soul can terminate while still in body, but aghati karmas terminate only when the soul is permanently separated from the body. Four ghäti karmas are jñānāvaraniya, darśnāvaraniya, mohaniya and antrāya and four aghāti karmas are vedaniya, ayu, nāma and gotra.
Karma and Rebirth
Rebirth is very closely associated with the karma and jiva. The karma of the past life is responsible for the present life". Karma of the present life will be responsible for the future life. According to Dasavaikalikasutra krodha (anger), māna (ego), māyā (deceit) and lobha (greed) are the root cause of the cycle of births, The Jainas are accepted four states of existence: the human, the lower animal, the heavenly beings and the infernal world. The karmas that it has accumulated determine its existence and status in the next life. Tattvärthabhāṣya consists when the karmas are removed the soul reaches perfection and liberated. One the karmas are removed and the soul reaches perfection, fresh karma would not enter into the soul, just as the fried seeds do not sprout.
