10 Presidential Address : ___अध्यात्मविद्या विधानां वादः प्रवदतामहम् ।
WI am the spiritual lore among lores; I am the discourse of the seeker of the Truth among those who discourse." Brother-delegates, Ladies and Gentlemen, . After recalling this great utterance of the Divine Philosopher, which may very well become the motto of this Congress, my first duty, on occupying this chair, is to thank the Executive Council of the Indian Philosophical Congress who have on your behalf elected me to be the President of the Section. I assure you that I accept the honour in all humility, being fully conscious of the heavy responsibilities which I shall have to shoulder, and which I can shoulder only with your generous co-operation.
I The scope of our section is vast. First, Indian Philosophy is not really a section which can be logically co-ordinated with other sections viz., Metaphysics, Logic, Ethics, Sociology, Psychology, History of Philosophy, and Religion; it is, in truth, the whole of Philosophy comprising all these branches with only a geographical qualification which has reference to its place of origin but does not limit its scope. Secondly, the history of Indian Philosophy is still in the process of exploration; the works of many a writer to whom references have been made in the available literature have yet to be discovered; the *Given at the Second Indian Philosophical Congress, as President of the Section and of Indian Philosophy, Benares, 1926.
