On this basis the originator of the Jvilamalini cult should. have lived after the above mentioned date.
One Elacharya has been mentioned in the "Srutavatara as the preceptor of Virasena. The verses in Śrutavatara are:
11
From the colophon of the first part of Jayadhavala tikā written by Virasena, we learn that the latter wrote in the time of Jagattungadeva (Govinda III). the predecessor of Amoghavaisha I. Thus, this Elacharya, the preceptor of Virasena, lived more than a century blore the time of Indranandi, the compiler of Jvalamali kalpa. It is just probable that Indranandi telers to this Elacharya as the originator of the cult. This identification would be much strengthened if llemagrama where the author of the Jvälämalini cult is said to have lived, and the Chitrakuta and Vaṭagrama mentioned by the author of Srutavatara, in connection with Elacharya and Virasena, could be identified. All of them certainly have to be located somewhere in the South within the Rashtrakuta kingdom. it is very likely that Ilemagrama and Vaṭagrama were neighbouring villages.
Somadeva.
Two works of this author are noticed in this Catalogue 775, Niti-vakyanita, and Yasastilaka-hampukavya. No other works of his are colophon of Nitivaky amrita tells us that he That part runs as follows.
known, but the wrote some more.

From this we learn that Somadeva wrote four works besides the Nitivakyamṛita, vis., (1) Shannavati prakarana, (2) Yuktichintamani sutra, (3) Mahendra Matali-samjalpa, and (4) Yasodhara Maharaja-charita.
