GITĀ-RAHASYA OR KARMA-YOGA
STETTOTTHARTSTEHE: FRAIFFT अहमेवाक्षयः कालो धाताऽहं विश्वतोमुखः॥ ३३ ॥ मृत्यु: सर्वहरश्चाहमुद्भवश्च भविष्यताम् । कीर्तिः श्रीर्वाक च नारीणां स्मृतिर्मेधा धृति क्षमा ॥ ३४॥ बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् ।
मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहमृतूनां कुसुमाकरः॥ ३५ ॥ end of the entire moveable and immoveable creation; this
is the distinction] (33) I am the akāra (the letter 'a'), among the letters; and among compounds, I am the (ubhaya-pada-pradhāna), (that is, copulative-Trans.) 'duamdva'; I am the inexhaustible Time (such as, nimeşa-muhūrti etc.); I am the
sarvatomukha' (that is, having mouths or faces on all the four sides)'d hatā (creator-Trans.) or Brahmadeva. (34) I am death, the destroyer of all; and I am the origin of all to be born in the future; among females, I am fame, fortune, speech, smệti' (that is, memory-Trans.), medha (that is, intellect-Trans.), dhịti' (that is, courage-Trans.) and kşama' (that is, forgiveness-Trans.).
[The words 'kirti', 'śrī', 'vāk', etc., indicate the several respective deities. The five out of these, excepting speech and forgiveness, and the other five (pusti, śraddhā, kriyā, lajjā, and mati, (that is, sound-bodiedness, faith, action, shame, and understanding), these ten are the daughters of Daksa; and, as they had been given in marriage to Dharma, they are all described as "dharma-patni-s"
in the Mahābhārata (Adi. 66. 13, 14).] (35) Similarly, among the Sāma, (that is, those Vedic hymns, which are to be sung) I am the Bșhatsāma; and among the metres, I am the Gāyatrī-metre; I am Mārga-- šīrşa among the months, and the Spring, among the six seasons.
[The first place has been given to the month of Mārgaśīrsa among the months, because, it was usual in those days to start with the month of Mārgasirsa in counting the months (Ma. Bhā. Anu. 106 and 109; Vālmiki Rāmāyaṇa
