The mantra composed by Somasena Bhattaraka:
Om, just as the relationship between Indra and Shachi, and between the god of love and Rati, may this auspicious relationship be established between the bride and groom. May the garland of union expand their fortune, well-being, peace, prosperity, and may it grant them long life and many offspring.
Garland-binding mantra: Om, for these two spouses who have attained union, in the fourth watch of the night, may the garland of union be tied, and may it grant them abundant offspring and long life.
By reciting this mantra, the preceptor should adorn the bride and groom with the garland.
Perform the auspicious fire ritual. Then the groom should tie the sacred thread around the bride's neck. After that, the preceptor should adorn the bride and groom with the garland. Subsequently, the attendants should apply camphor and gorochan (a yellow pigment) to both.
The smiling maidens who have taken up the ceremonial vessels should circumambulate the groom and then the bride in the auspicious pavilion. There, they should offer oblation to the serpents depicted on the eight petals of the lotus.
The bride should be shown near the horse, where her paternal lineage is marked. The groom should be placed near the bull, where his paternal lineage is marked.
Upon being called by the preceptor, the bride and groom should approach and sit on their respective seats. There, they should be served with betel leaves, rice, and the loosened sacred thread should be placed.
