The essence of this mantra is that the presiding deity (adhiṣṭhātā deva) of my body should grant me strength. This indicates that there are presiding deities (adhiṣṭhātā devas) for the bodies and all the limbs and organs of men and women. The same is evident from the mantras to be recited during sexual intercourse. These mantras are also found in other texts written before the author of this work. It is certain from the Āgamas (scriptures) composed by the Ṛṣis (sages) that there are presiding deities (adhiṣṭhātā devas) for the bodies and organs of men and women. These deities are usually of the Vyantara class. They have diverse natures. Their nature varies according to their karmic manifestations. Many people create a great uproar about such matters. It has been stated in many places that their nature is to reside in the best as well as the worst of places. It is natural for them to love the best as well as the worst things. But their nature is not uniform. Some have one kind of nature, while others have a different kind. Just as there are some deities whose duty is to pull the chariots of the sun and moon, and they obtain the fruit of their karmas accordingly. Similarly, the duty of the Vyantara and other deities is to reside in the bodies and organs of men and women; and some reside elsewhere. They have their abode everywhere in the middle world. They have many different duties. They also become helpers of human beings according to their karmic manifestations. If someone raises the doubt that if they are helpers of human beings, then they should always be ready to help them and never cause any harm to anyone, the answer is that the attainment of what is desirable and undesirable happens according to one's own past karmas. There are many external factors involved in it. They are innumerable. Therefore, it is possible that they help in specific tasks of human beings.
The husband is satisfied with his wife, and the wife is likewise satisfied with her husband. In the family where this is the case, there is certainly constant auspiciousness. When the sexually united couple ejaculate their semen, the woman then conceives.
The man who approaches his wife during her fertile period attains the highest state, and his son born of such a union is considered to bestow heaven upon his ancestors.
But the man who does not approach his menstruating wife is plunged along with his ancestors into the terrible sin of foeticide.
