[ કઈ દુષ્ટ માણસના અન્યાયપૂર્ણ હમલાના વખતે એની સામે આત્મબળથી ઝુંઝવું અને અહિંસક રહી એના હાથે ખતમ થઈ જવું પડે તે ખતમ થઈ જવું એ બહુ મોટી અને શ્રેષ્ઠ વાત છે, પરંતુ એવા વખતે કાયર થઈ ભાગી જવું એના કરતાં તે એ હમલાખેરને શારીરિક બળથી સામને કરે અને જરૂરીઆત પ્રમાણે પ્રતીકાર કરે એ હજાર દરજજે સારું છે. કેમકે કાયરપણું એ નમાલાપણું છે, જ્યારે બહાદુરી તેમજ નિર્ભયતા એ જીવનનું વીર્ય પૂર્ણ સૌન્દર્ય છે.]
