तभद्रेण ।" यदि पंडितजीकी यह सूचना सत्य x हो तो इससे यह विषय और भी स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि शांतिवर्मा समन्तभद्रका ही नाम था।
वास्तवमें ऐसे ही महत्त्वपूर्ण काव्यग्रंथोंके द्वारा समन्तभद्रकी काव्यकीर्ति जगतमें विस्तारको प्राप्त हुई है । इस ग्रंथमें आपने जो अपूर्व शब्दचातुर्यको लिये हुए निर्मल भक्तिगंगा बहाई है उसके उपयुक्त पात्र भी आप ही हैं । आपसे भिन्न — शांतिवर्मा ' नामका ___x पं० जिनदासकी इस सूचनाको देखकर हमने पत्रद्वारा उनसे यह मालूम करना चाहा कि कर्णाटक देशसे मिली हुई अष्टसहस्रीकी वह कौनसी प्रति है
और कहाँके भंडारमें पाई जाती है जिसमें उक्त उल्लेख मिलता है। क्योंकि दौर्बलि जिनदास शास्त्रीके भंडारसे मिली हुई 'आप्तमीमांसा के उल्लेखसे यह उल्लेख कुछ भिन्न है। उत्तरमें आपने यही सूचित किया कि यह उल्लेख पं० वंशीधरजीकी लिखी हुई अष्टसहस्रीकी प्रस्तावना परसे लिया गया है, इस लिये इस विषयका प्रश्न उन्हींसे करना चाहिये । अष्टसहस्रीकी प्रस्तावना ( परिचय ) को देखने पर मालूम हुआ कि उसमें 'इति' से 'समन्तभद्रेण ' तकका उक्त उल्लेख ज्योंका त्यों पाया जाता है, उसके शुरूमें 'कर्णाटदेशतो लब्धपुस्तके' और अन्तमें 'इत्याद्युल्लेखो दृश्यते' ये शब्द लगे हुए हैं । इसपर गत ता० ११ जुलाईको एक रजिष्टई पत्र पं० वंशीधरजीको शोलापुर भेजा गया और उनसे अपने उक्त उल्लेखका खुलासा करनेके लिये प्रार्थना की गई। साथ ही यह भी लिखा गया कि 'यदि आपने स्वयं उस कर्णाट देशसे मिली हुई पुस्तकको न देखा हो तो जिस आधार पर आपने उक्त उल्लेख किया है उसे ही कृपया सूचित कीजिये । ३ री अगस्त सन् १९२४ को दूसरा रिमाइण्डर पत्र भी दिया गया परंतु पंडितजीने दोनोंमेंसे किसीका भी कोई उत्तर देने की कृपा नहीं की ।
