• ठीक हो तब या तो यह कहना होगा कि प्रमेयकमलमार्तडका टिप्पण राजा
भोज (प्रथम ) के समयमें और महापुराणका टिप्पण भोजके उत्तराधिकारी 'जयसिंह ( प्रथम ) के समयमें लिखा गया है, अथवा यह कहना होगा कि महापुराणका टिप्पण जयसिंह (द्वितीय) के समयमें और प्रमेयकमलमार्तडका टिप्पण भोज (द्वितीय ) के समयमें-वि० सं० १३४० के करीब-लिखा गया है। इसके सिवाय यह भी कहा जा सकता है कि दोनों प्रभाचंद्र धारा-निवासी होते हुए भी एक दूसरेसे भिन्न थे और उनमेंसे एकने दूसरेका अनुकरण करके ही अपने लिये उन विशेषणोंका प्रयोग किया है जो अर्थकी दृष्टि से प्रायः साधारण हैं और कोई विशेष ऐतिहासिक महत्त्व नहीं रखते । उत्तर'पुराण-टिप्पणकारके अन्तिम पद्योंमें जो ऊपर उद्धृत भी किये गये हैं, प्रमेयकमलमार्तडके अन्तिम पद्योंका * कितना ही अनुकरण पाया जाता है, और इस समानता परसे यह कहा नहीं जा सकता कि प्रमेयकमलमार्तड ग्रंथके कर्ता प्रभाचंद्र ही उत्तरपुराणके टिप्पणकार हैं, क्योंकि इन प्रभाचंद्रके समयमें उक्त उत्तरपुराणका जन्म भी नहीं हुआ था-वह शक सं० ८८७ (वि० सं० १०२२ ) क्रोधन संवत्सरका बना हुआ पाया जाता है और उसमें 'वीरसेन' 'जिनसेन' का, उनके 'धवल जयधवल' नामक टीकाग्रंथों तकके साथ, उल्लेख मिलता है। इतिहासमें भोजके उत्तराधिकारी जयसिंहके राज्यकी स्थिति भी बहुत कुछ संदिग्ध पाई जाती है । इन सब बातों परसे हमें तो यही प्रतीत होता है कि प्रमेयकमलमार्तडके टिप्पणकार चाहे भोज प्रथमके समकालीन हों अथवा भोज द्वितीयके परंतु उत्तरपुराणके उक्त टिप्पणकार जयसिंह * वे पद्य इस प्रकार हैं
गंभीरं निखिलार्थगोचरमलं शिष्यप्रबोधप्रदं यध्यक्तं पदमद्वितीयमखिलं माणिक्यनन्दिप्रभोः । तद्व्याख्यातमदो यथावगमतो किंचिन्मया लेशतः स्थेयाच्छुद्धधियां मनोरतिगृहे चन्द्रार्कतारावधि ॥ १॥ मोहध्वान्तविनाशनो निखिलतो विज्ञानशुद्धिप्रदो भेयानन्तनभोविसर्पणपटुर्वस्तूक्तिभाभासुरः। शिष्याब्जप्रतिबोधनः समुदितो योऽद्रे परीक्षामुखाजीयासोऽत्रनिबन्ध एष सुचिरं मार्तण्डतुल्योऽमलः ॥ २॥
