स्वामी समन्तभद्र।
इस परिचयमें उस स्थानविशेष अथवा प्रामका नाम भी दिया हुआ है जहाँ तार्किकसूर्य स्वामी समंतभद्रने उदय होकर अपनी टीकाकिरणोंसे कर्मप्राभूत सिद्धान्तके अर्थको विकसित किया है। परंतु पाठकी कुछ अशुद्धिके कारण वह नाम स्पष्ट नहीं हो सका । ' आसन्ध्यां पलरि' की जगह 'आसीद्यः पलरि' पाठ देकर पं० जिनदास पार्श्वनाथजी फडकुलेने उसका अर्थ 'आनंद नांवाच्या गांवांत 'आनंद नामके गाँवमें-दिया है । परंतु इस दूसरे पाठका यह अर्थ कैसे हो सकता है, यह बात कुछ समझमें नहीं आती। पूछने पर पंडितजी लिखते हैं " श्रुतपंचमीक्रिया इस पुस्तकके मराठी अनुवादमें समंतभद्राचार्यका जन्म आनंदमें होना लिखा है, " बस इतने परसे ही आपने ' पलार ' का अर्थ · आनंद गाँवमें ' कर दिया है, जो ठीक मालूम नहीं होता, और न आपका आसीद्यः' पाठ ही हमें ठीक अँचता है, क्योंकि 'अभूत' क्रियापदके होनेसे 'आसीत् क्रियापद व्यर्थ पड़ता है । हमारी रायमें, यदि कर्णाटक प्रान्तमें 'पल्ली' शब्दके अर्थमें 'पलर' या इसीसे मिलता जुलता कोई दूसरा शब्द व्यवहृत होता हो और सप्तमी विभक्तिमें उसका 'पलरि' रूप बनता हो तो यह कहा जा सकता है कि 'आसन्ध्यां' की जगह 'आनंद्यां' पाठ होगा, और तब ऐसा आशय निकल सकेगा कि समंतभद्रने 'आनंदी पल्ली' में अथवा 'आनंदमठ' में ठहरकर इस टीकाकी रचना की है।
