दिनो मे उन्होने एक विजय - वंदना बनाई थी और गढवाली सेना स्वागत मे भी 'रे गढवाली ज्वान' नामक एक बढ़िया कविता रची थी ।
इस प्रकार की कविताएँ जिस प्रकार बनाई जाती थी, उसके उदाहरण के लिये सेण्ट जोन्स कालेज के प्रिसिपल डेविस साहब की चिट्ठी से निम्नलिखित अंश उद्धृत करना अप्रासंगिक न होगा । अपने २७ फर्वरी १६१६ के पत्र मे डेविस साहब ने लिखा था

Particularly I remember the occasion of a Recruiting meeting for the Indian Defence Force which was held in St. John's College in the autumn of 1917 I was very anxious that Satyanarayan should read a poem as I knew how much influence his writings exerted upon students, and I therefore motored out to his home with one of our students. Unfortunately Satyanarayan was not to be found, but soon after my return he came up to the Bungalow and asked me whether I was looking for him. I told him that I was anxious that he should write a poem for the occasion. There then remained about half an hour, and I still have before my mind. the picture of Satyanarayan walking up and down his lips moving and writing one line after another on a scrap of paper His poem was probably the most effective feature of the meeting."
अर्थात् "खास तौर से मुझे उस अवसर का स्मरण है जब सन् १९१७ की शिशिर ऋतु में, सेण्ट जीन्स कालेज में इण्डियन डिफेन्स फोर्स के लिये रंगरूट भर्ती करने के लिये एक मीटिंग हुई थी। मुझे इस बात की बड़ी
