Exposition of the special activities of the destroyer of karmic defilements
88. Just as the bondage of name and gotra (lineage) is of the measure of a palya-pramana (the smallest unit of time), so is the alpa-bahuta (less or more) of the same. 89. That is as follows. 90. The bondage of the duration of name and gotra is the least. 91. The bondage of the duration of jnanavaraniya (knowledge-obscuring), darsanavaraniya (perception-obscuring), vedaniya (feeling-producing) and antaraya (obstructive) karmas is specially more. 92. The bondage of the duration of mohaniya (deluding) karma is specially more. 93. The bondages of the duration of the remaining karmas, which have been mentioned earlier, have gone by this alpa-bahuta (less or more) without any distinction.
94. Then, the bondage of the duration of name and gotra, which is of the measure of a palya-pramana, being full, the other bondage of the duration, which is of a number of times less, comes into being. 95. The bondage of the duration of the remaining karmas is much less. 96. Therefore, the alpa-bahuta (less or more) is as follows - the bondage of the duration of name and gotra is the least. 97. The bondage of the duration of the four karmas (jnanavaraniya, darsanavaraniya, vedaniya and antaraya) is of an equal number. 98. The bondage of the duration of mohaniya karma is specially more.
99. In this way, countless thousands of bondages of the duration come into being. 100. Then, the bondage of the duration of jnanavaraniya, darsanavaraniya, vedaniya and antaraya karmas becomes of the measure of a palya-pramana. 101. At that time, the bondage of the duration of mohaniya karma becomes more than three-fourths of a palya-pramana. 102. Then, the other bondage of the duration of the four karmas becomes of a number of times less. 103. Therefore, the alpa-bahuta (less or more) is as follows - the bondage of the duration of name and gotra is the least. 104. The bondage of the duration of the four karmas is of a number of times more. 105. The bondage of the duration of mohaniya karma is of a number of times more. 106. In this way, countless thousands of bondages of the duration come into being.
