GLOBAL JAIN AAGAM MISSION
Promoting Compassionate and Nonviolent Living
MISSION:
Global Jain Aagam Mission promotes the eternal truths of Jain Agama (precepts of Lord Mahāvīra) to build a compassionate and nonviolent lifestyle in the world. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
• Translate all Jain Agamas (scriptures) into English and other world languages • Make Agamas available in all electronic forms • Promote awareness of Āgama throughout the world • Educate and uphold Jain way of life using expertise of social media • Promote a compassionate and nonviolent lifestyle throughout the world • Encourage and promote research on Agamas to develop approaches to the world challenges
(ecology & environment, global warming, world peace, psychology, health, scientific principles,
etc.) • Hold periodic conventions to promote exchanges among world's scholars • Interface with interreligious organizations and other guiding institutions • Be a resource for information and referral • Work co-operatively with local, regional, national, and global organizations
TRANSLATION OF JAIN AAGAMAS INTO ENGLISH:
The Global Jain Aagam Mission has embarked on a project to translate and publish all Jain Agamas into English. The English translation of the Agama will help youth of today in India and abroad to learn and understand Lord Mahāvīra's preachings. The goal is to reach every household and every person in the world to impart the wisdom of the Agamas. In a non-sectarian way, this Mission will endeavor to deliver the Lord Mahāvīra's message to hearts of the people. The translated Agamas will be distributed to various libraries, universities and Jain institutions within our country and abroad. In addition, it will be made available on the Internet and in electronic forms of eBooks, etc. Many learned intellectuals from different countries and cultures have supported this project of translating the Agama's into English. The work is being performed in cities of Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Shravanbelgola, Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai, Kolkata, Banaras, Ladnu, Dubaii, and USA. In addition, this mission is receiving guidance and blessings from spiritual leaders of various religious traditions.
