The Rishis do not pay any regard to this rule, as gaat afaviti ॥ वादौ ॥ १५॥ असंयुक्तस्यादौ वर्त्तमानस्य नस्य णो वा भवति । Ņ is optionally substituted for a single and initial nas एरो, नरो; णदु, नइ, (नदी); असंयुक्तस्येत्य व this is only when n is single, for compare न्यायः । ॥ पोवः ॥ १६ । १। स्यरात् परस्यायुक्तस्यानादेः पस्य पायो वो भवति । Single noninitial p when preceded by a vowel, generally becomes v. as मवहो (शपथः) ; मावो (शापः); उलवो (उलपः); उवसग्गो (उपसर्ग:) ; पईवो (पदीपः); कामवो (काग्यपः) ; पावं (पाप); उवमा (उपमा) ; महिवालो (महीपालः); गोवे (गोपयति); कलावो (कलापः); तवद् (तपति); कवोलो (कपोल:); स्वरादित्य व as for p not preceded by a vowel, compare कम्पद् ; असंयुक्तस्येत्येव as for its being conjoined to another consonant, compare अप्पमत्तो अनादिरित्य व ; also when it occurs at the begining of words, compare पइ (पठति); प्राय इत्येव the use of práyas (generally) in the sútra signifies that this rule is not universal or in other words it applies only to cases where no elision takes place by sútra (1 chap 2.) as रिऊ (रियः); १। १। प्राकृत प्रकाशे सूत्ररूपं सममेव विद्यते (see Pra. 15-2.) शौरसेन्यां अपूर्व शब्दस्य "अवरूवं," "अञ्च,” इति रूपवयं भवति In the Sauraseni dialect the word Apurba has two forms as just shewn in Nágri character.
