કૃતીય-પ્રાણ
૩૮. જે,ચોરીરૂપ પાપના વૃક્ષ પર ચઢી બેઠે છે તેણે માત્ર પોતાનું સ્વાગ્ય જ ગુમાવ્યું છે એમ નથી, પણ તે દુર્ભાગી માણસ સન્વેષ, ધર્ય, વિવેક અને સદ્ગતિને પણ હારી બેઠો છે.
38. Not only does the unfortunate man who has ascended the tree of theft, lose peace of mind or health, but also contentment, courage, discrimination and future cburce of good rebirth in the next world.
यो मार्यते स क्षणमेक एव प्राप्नोति दुःखं द्रविणे हृते तु । सपुत्रपौत्रादिरुपैति यावज्जीवं विचिन्त्येति जहातु चौर्यम् ॥ ३९ ॥
૩૯. જે પ્રાણીને મારવામાં આવે છે તે પ્રાણી એકલે જ અને ક્ષણ માત્ર જ આ ભેગવે છે, પણ જેનું ધન લૂંટી લેવામાં આવે છે તે પિતાના બાળબચ્ચાં અને સ્ત્રી વગેરે પરિવાર સાથે જિન્દગીભર દુઃખ ભોગવે છે. (આમ ચોરીનું બ્દત્ય હિંસા કરતાં મહાહિંસારૂપ દુષ્ક બની જાય છે.) એમ સમજી ચેરીને રસ્તે મૂકી દેવો.
39. When & man is killed, he himself suffers pain alone and that too for a moment, but, with the deprivation of wealth belonging to a man, be suffers during his whole life along with his sops, grandsons and all the family. The babit of stealing, should therefore be given up.
તેર-વૃત્તિ: વહુ નવાઈરસ્તે વૃત્તિઃ પુરુજાર્થ-જા ! विशुद्ध-हस्तस्य च साधुवादा शाम्यन्त्यनाश्च परत्र नाकम् ।। ४० ॥
