नाक्रन्दनम्
आस्वाद्य तव सिद्धान्तं पीत्वापि शम - भारतीम् । वासना - परितापो मे न ही शाम्यति तृष्णजः

તારા સિદ્ધાન્તનાં આસ્વાદન અને તારી શાન્તરસભરી વાણીનાં પાન એ મધું કર્યા પછી પણુ, હાય ! મારે વાસનામય પરિતાપ ઠંડા પડતા નથી. ૧૨
जन- पर्षद माकर्षत्प्रण ( ल्योपदिशाम्यहम् । स्वकीयं पुनरात्मानं नोपदेष्टुं भवाम्यलम् !

( 12 ) Oh, my Lord ! even though I have tasted the sweets of Thy doctrines, and have drunk the nectar of Thy all-pacifying speech, the torment of my worldly cravings does not cool down, ever-thirsty as 1 am !

જન-સમૂહને આકર્ષક શૈલીથી ઉપદેશ કરું, પણ હું પેાતાને-મારા પેતઃના આત્માને ઉપદેશ કરી શકતા નથી ! ૧૩
સ્વાર્થ ત્તિ-મૃાવાતિ-માહિ--શીજ-મૂર્ચ્છત । अहिंसा सत्यमस्तेयं का मे ब्रह्मापरिग्रहा ?
( 13 ) I preach to eoneourses of persons in n attractive 8tyle, but, alas ! I am not ablż to seruonize myself.

પ્રભુ ! હું સ્ત્રાર્થી છું, મૃષાવાદી અને ભી છું, દુઃશીલ અને લેલુભ છે, પછી એ સ્થિતિમાં અહિંસા, સત્ય, પ્રામાણિકતા, સંયમ અને સન્તુષ જેવા ગુણાના સંગમ મારામાં કયાંથી જ હાય ? ૧૪

( 14 ) Selfish, unruthful, deveitial, immoral and as I am, how can there exist in me the virtues like innocuousness. veracity, probity, continence and non-covetousness ?
