________________ Research and Field Trips Jain Center of America, New York (ICA) has constructed a model of Ashtapad, This Center is interested in locating Ashtapad Maha Tirth and Ashtapad Mountain. Three research trips were organized by JCA to visit and research the Kailash Mansarovar area from 2006 to 2009 The main objectives of this excursion were to: 1. Add depth and breadth to the research already conducted, 2. Find the location/existence of Ashtapad as described in scripture 3.Prove the existence of Ashtapad geographically and archaeologically In recent history, no one has witnessed the actual Ashtapad Tirth as described in the scriptures, Pilgrims and visitors travel to the mountain where this Tirth is believed to be hidden somewhere. Many individuals and organizations are involved in research to unravel the mysteries of this legendry place. Kailash, area of the Ashtapad Mountain up in the Himalayas. Kailash Mountain is also known as KANG RIM POCHE' which is 25 miles north of Mansarovar. Between Mansarovar (Padma Had) and Kailash about 5-7 miles NE, is another mountain called Ashtapad. This mountain is 8 miles in height as per scriptures and is covered with white snow and hence known as 'Dhawalgini One can walk from "Darchin" after crossing about 1520 mountain hills, and can reach there in 4 to 6 hours. Buddhist pilgrims call this mountain "Kang Members of First Research Trip to Kailash Mansarovar 2006 Nandi Parvat: Shri Bharatbhal Hansraj Shah thinks this could be Ashtapad. Ashtapad Research International Foundation (ARIF) We are currently working on the following: .Collecting literature on Ashtaped from scripture and putting it in XX volumes .Pamplets in English, Hindi & Gujarati have been published The Ashtapad Model - a replica and all 3 Chavisi (72 idols of Tirthankar) & other idols were exhibited in many major cities. .We held many seminars at Ahmedabad & Mumbai. . We have visited Dharamshala and we are coordinating the studies from Tibetan literature and Bon Po-the indigenous Religion. . We have undertaken 3 field trips to KM region for research. -High Resolution Satele studies have helped us a lot in trying to locate the buried structure. A proposal for research will be sent to many research institutions Kailash with Nandi in the front "The real can never be destroyed and the unreal is never bor." Mountain between Serlung Gompa & Gyandrag Monastry 7. Gyandrag Monastry 8. 13 Drigung Kagyu Chorten 9. Probable site of Ashtapad known as Gombo Phang or Trinetra or Mahakal, (10) The site was detected using sat ellite data by Mr P.S. Thakker and it is known as Dharma King Norsang Area east of Kailash Ruins found around Kailash Satellite Images of Kailash (High Resolution Data) Conclusion: Shri Adinath era was dawn period of world civilization & if located, it will tell us about early growth of human civilization. This will open a new chapter on world history and will become a potential source of information about religion and culture of that period.
