________________ Rough Crystal The rough crystal stone weighing 30 ton was imported. After processing and carving, the final weight of the mountain is seven and half ton. This is supported on a one ton steel frame. Crystal Blocks Total of 59 blocks were cut and arranged in 8 layers to make the mountain. Each weighing few kg to about 300 kg individually. Carving on Steps - Eight steps were carved at base of the mountain in the center, heading up to Gokhale level. Carving on Ghummat and Chhaja All 24 Gokhala have Ghummat with Chhaja and were fully carved, all around. Making of Mountain, Steps and Ghokhala Mountain is the main body and is made from crystal quartz. Various blocks of crystal (59) each weighing few kg to 300 kg, were assembled to replicate the appearance of a real mountain and to provide a sloping pattern on the front and sides. Eight steps were constructed in the center leading to the first row of the Gokhala. 24 Gokhala were sculpted in the mountain itself where the idols are installed. Model No. 5 was built in crystal to 1/5th size of the final unit. The mountain is constructed from crystal blocks, arranged in eight layers one above the other and side by side. The mountain is carved in eight layers of crystal blocks. First two layers are for steps, next four layers are for idols and last two layers are for Shikhar. Name: Chalcedony Color: Blue, whitish gray Hardness: 6.5-7 Density: 2.58 2.64 Transparency: Dull, Translucent Country: Brazil, South Africa, Turkey, Greenland, India -Shila Pähuda, 2 Ashtapad has derived its name from the fact that it has eight steps. Eight steps are carved at the base of the mountain in the center. A design with regular carving was done in the beginning but later on a Asht Pratiharya design was added and hence all 24 Gokhala have a Ashta Pratiharya design. Individual Yaksh Yakshini are carved at the base next to the Sinhasan. A five Shikhar design is carved as per the design in the scripture to give an appearance of a temple and adorned with gold Kalash and at Dhwaja (flag) at the top. Mountain & Shri Chovisi are illuminated from the front using white lights, as well as from the back using color lights, giving an amazing effect.
