take over. Cāņakya entered the city in the apparel of a tridandi (a mendicant with a staff.) He inspected carefully all the objects of hindrance in the city. He saw the idols of Indrakumārī deities. Due to the occult protecting-power of the deities, they were unable to capture the city. With his yogic power (māyā) Cāņakya removed the influence of the deities and captured the city.
