162. (Question) What is this Pashchanupurvi ?
(Answer) Pashchanupurvi is like this-(3) Urdhvaloka (upper world), (2) Tiryak-loka (middle world), and (1) Adholoka ( lower world ). Areas arranged in such descending sequential order is called pashchanupurvi (descending sequence).

अणाणुपुब्बी एयाए चेव एगादियाए एगुत्तरियाए तिगच्छगयाए सेढीए अन्नमन्नब्भासो दुरूवणो । से तं अणाणुपुब्बी ।
१६३. (प्रश्न ) अनानुपूर्वी किसे कहते हैं ?
(उत्तर) एक से प्रारम्भ कर एक-एक की वृद्धि करते जाये । तीन की संख्या को श्रेणी में परस्पर गुणा करें उससे जो भंग संख्या प्राप्त हो उसमें से आद्य और अन्तिम दो भंगों को छोड़ देने से जो राशि प्राप्त हो वह अनानुपूर्वी है।
इस प्रकार अनानुपूर्वी का वर्णन समाप्त हुआ।
ANANUPURVI
163. (Question ) What is this Ananupurvi ?
(Answer) Place three numbers starting from one and progressively adding one. Multiply all the six numbers of this arithmetic progression and subtract 2 (depicting the ascending and descending sequence) from the result. This final result is called ananupurvi (random sequence). (This number is the total number of sequences that can be made in random order. In other words this is the sum total of all permutations and combinations of the random sequences that can be made with the given set of numbers).
