की (कल्पना करो) अब यदि वही पुरुष उस दीपक को धातु के एक विशाल पिटारे से ढक
दे तो वह दीपक कूटाकारशाला की तरह उस पिटारे के भीतरी भाग को ही प्रकाशित करेगा किन्तु पिटारे के बाहरी भाग को प्रकाशित नहीं करेगा। इसी तरह गोकिलिंज (गाय को घास की रखने का पात्र-डलिया), पच्छिकापिटक (पिटारी), गडमाणिका (अनाज मापने का बर्तन),
आढक (चार सेर धान्य मापने का पात्र), अर्धाढक, प्रस्थक, अर्धप्रस्थक, कुलव, अर्धकुलव, ॐ चतुर्भागिका, अष्टभागिका, षोडशिका, द्वात्रिंशतिका, चतुष्पष्टिका (इन सबके अर्थ
अनुयोगद्वारसूत्र में देखें) अथवा दीपचम्पक (दीपक का ढाकना) से ढकें तो वह दीपक उस ढक्कन के भीतरी भाग को ही प्रकाशित करेगा, ढक्कन के बाहरी भाग को नहीं। न चतुष्षष्टिका के बाहरी भाग को, न कूटाकारशाला को, न कूटाकारशाला के बाहरी भाग को प्रकाशित करेगा।
हे प्रदेशी ! इसी प्रकार पूर्वभव में उपार्जित कर्म के निमित्त से जीव को क्षुद्र-छोटे अथवा महत्-बडे शरीर की प्राप्ति होती है, उसी शरीर के अनुसार आत्म-प्रदेशों को संकुचित और * विस्तृत करने का स्वभाव आत्मा का है। इस कारण वह उस शरीर को अपने असंख्यात - आत्म-प्रदेशों से व्याप्त करता है। अतएव प्रदेशी ! तुम यह श्रद्धा करो-इस बात पर विश्वास
करो कि जीव अन्य है और शरीर अन्य है, जीव शरीर नहीं और शरीर जीव नहीं है।'' EXAMPLE OF LAMP

enters it with a lamp and fire to ignite it. He then stands exactly at * the centre of that house. Thereafter he closes all the doors of that
house in such a way that there is no gap (hole) in between. He then lights the lamp. Then the light of the lamp brightens, shines and lights up only the inner part of the house and the outer part does not get lighted.
Imagine that the same person now covers the lighted lamp with a big basket. Then like the house, the lamp sheds light and brightens only the space inside the basket and not the space outside. Similarly if he covers the lamp with basket used for feeding the cows, a bamboo box, a vessel used for measuring corn, a pot used to measure four seers of food grains, two seers of food grains,
