मेंढक का भव- उद्धार

१. नन्द जीव मेंढक भगवान महावीर की वन्दना करने राजमार्ग पर फुदक-फुदककर चलता जा रहा है। उसी समय राजा श्रेणिक भी उसी रास्ते से भगवान की वन्दना करने जा रहा है।
२. एक सैनिक के घोड़े की टाप अचानक मेंढक पर गिरती है। नन्हा सा मेंढक कुचल जाता है, आँतें बाहर निकल आती हैं। मेंढक राजमार्ग के एक किनारे चला आता है और सोचता है - अब मैं शक्तिहीन हो गया हूँ। भगवान के समवसरण तक नहीं पहुँच सकता।
३. मेंढक वहीं से अत्यन्त भक्तिभाव के साथ भगवान को भाव-वन्दना करता है।
४. अत्यन्त शुद्ध भावपूर्वक शरीर त्यागकर वह नन्द मेंढक सौधर्मकल्प के दर्दुरान्तक विमान में ऋद्धिशाली देव बनता है। (तेरहवाँ अध्ययन )

LIBERATION OF THE FROG

1. Nand frog proceeds hopping on the highway on his way to pay homage to Bhagavan Mahavir. At that time King Shrenik is also proceeding with his guards to pay homage to Bhagavan Mahavir.

2. Suddenly the frog is hit by the hoof of a guard's horse and its entrails are exposed. It drags itself to one side and thinks that it has not enough energy left to reach the Samavasaran.
3. From that very spot it starts worship of Bhagavan Mahavir with all devotion. After that it reviews its conduct and atones for misdeeds and accepts the five great vows as well as the ultimate vow of fasting till death.
4. Because it breathed its last with purity of feelings and thoughts he reincarnated as a powerful god in the Saudharm dimension. He comes to pay homage and display his grandeur before Bhagavan Mahavir. (illustration - 10)
