refuses to take the water back, the ascetic should carry the pot containing water to a place with wet ground or other suitable place and discard the water following the prescribed procedure. He should place the wet pot at a secluded place.
२५७. से भिक्खू वा ३ उदउल्लं वा ससणिद्धं वा पडिग्गहं णो आमज्जेज्जा वा जाव पयावेज्ज वा। अह पुणेवं जाणेज्जा विगदोदए मे पडिग्गहए छिण्ण-सिणेहे, तहप्पगारं पडिग्गहं ततो संजयामेव आमज्जेज्ज वा जाव पयावेज्ज वा।

A bhikshu or bhikshuni should neither wipe nor dry in sun the pot as long as it is damp or dripping wet. When he knows that it is neither dripping nor wet, he may carefully wipe it or dry it in sun. ___विवेचन-इन सूत्रों में सचित्त जल का प्रसंग आया है, जबकि इस पात्रैषणा में पात्र-ग्रहण का विषय चल रहा है। चूर्णिकार का कथन है-"जिस पात्र में सचित्त जल रखा हो गृहस्थ वह सचित्त जल निकालकर, सचित्त जल से भीगा पात्र साधु को देवे तो वह पात्र ग्रहण न करे।" किन्तु वृत्तिकार के आशय को ध्यान में रखकर आचार्य श्री आत्माराम जी म. इस सूत्र को सचित्त जल से सम्बन्धित ही मानते हैं। गृहस्थ साधु द्वारा जल की याचना करने पर उसे चार कारण से सचित्त जल दे सकता है-(१) अज्ञान या असावधानी के कारण, (२) साधु से द्वेषभाव रखता हुआ उसे बदनाम करने की नीयत से, (३) साधु पर अनुकम्पा लाकर, अथवा (४) विमर्शता-किसी अन्य विचार के कारण वह साधु को सचित्त जल देता हो तो साधु सभी परिस्थिति में सावधान रहकर सचित्त जल ग्रहण नहीं करे। (हिन्दी टीका, पृ. १२३-१४०)
Elaboration–These aphorisms discuss sachit (contaminated with living organisms) water whereas the topic of the chapter Paatraishana is seeking pots. The commentator (Churni) says—"If a householder gives a pot after taking out sachit water stored in it, the ascetic should not take such pot that is wet with sachit water." But keeping the view of the commentator (Vritti) in mind, Acharya Shri Atmaramji M.
