[3] Third Pratima-A bhikshu or bhikshuni should find about the old clothes (used clothes) such as under or upper or other garments the householder has. He should then specifically seek for that type of cloth or take it, if offered by a householder on his own, considering it to be faultless and acceptable. This is the third pratima. ___ [4] Fourth Pratima-A bhikshu or bhikshuni should seek a cloth worth discarding or which is rejected by many other Buddhist monks (etc. up to destitute) or take it, if offered by a householder on his own, considering it to be faultless and acceptable.
The details about these four pratimas should be taken as those mentioned in the chapter Pindaishana.
विवेचन-पिण्डैषणा अध्ययन में जैसे पिण्डैषणा की चार प्रतिज्ञाएँ बताई गई हैं, वैसे ही यहाँ वस्त्रैषणा से सम्बन्धित चार प्रतिज्ञाएँ बताई गई हैं। उनके नाम इस प्रकार हैं
(१) उद्दिष्टा-अपने मन में पहले ही संकल्प किये हुए वस्त्र की याचना करना। (२) प्रेक्षिता-किसी गृहस्थ के यहाँ वस्त्र देखकर उस वस्त्र की याचना करना।
(३) परिभुक्ता-गृहस्थ द्वारा पहने हुए अन्तरीय (भीतर पहने हुए) उत्तरीय (ऊपर पहने हुए, ओढ़े हुए) वस्त्र की याचना करना।
(४) उज्झितधर्मिका-जो वस्त्र गृहस्थ के काम आने योग्य नहीं रहा हो, ऐसे फेंकने योग्य वस्त्र की याचना करना।
बृहत्कल्पसूत्र वृत्ति, पृ. १८० तथा निशीथचूर्णि, उ. ५, पृ. ५६८ में भी इन चार प्रतिमाओं का वर्णन है।
Elaboration—In the Pindaishana chapter are mentioned four resolutions regarding exploration of food. In the same way are given four resolutions regarding exploration for clothes here. Their names are as follows,
(1) Uddishta-To seek a cloth about which a resolve has been made in advance.
