(Thunder god) ! Vidyutadeva (Lightening god) ! Pravrishtadeva (Rain god) ! Nivrishtadeva (god that causes downpour) ! May it rain or may it not rain ! May the crops grow or may the crops not grow ! May the night wane or may the night not wane ! May the sun rise or may the sun not rise ! May the king conquer or may the king not conquer !” A wise ascetic should avoid such speech.
१९१. से भिक्खू वा २ अंतलिक्खे ति वा, गुज्झाणुचरिए ति वा, सम्मुच्छिए वा, णिवइए वा पओए वएज्ज वा वुट्टबलाहगे त्ति वा।
एयं खलु भिक्खुस्स वा भिक्षुणीए वा सामग्गियं जं सव्वट्ठेहिं समिएहिं सहिए सया जएज्जासि __ -त्ति बेमि।
॥ पढमो उद्देसओ सम्मत्तो ॥ १९१. कहने का प्रसंग उपस्थित होने पर प्रज्ञावान साधु या साध्वी आकाश को अन्तरिक्ष (आकाश) कहे या देवताओं के गमनागमन करने का मार्ग गुह्यानुचरित कहे। यह पयोधर (मेघ) झुक रहा है, जल देने वाला है, संमूर्छिम जल बरसाता है या यह मेघ बरसता है या बादल बरस चुका है, इस प्रकार की निर्दोष भाषा बोले। ___ उस साधु और साध्वी की साधुता की यही समग्रता है कि वह ज्ञान-दर्शन-चारित्ररूप तथा पाँच समितियों से युक्त होकर सदा भाषासमिति में प्रयत्नशील रहे। ___-ऐसा मैं कहता है।
॥ प्रथम उद्देशक समाप्त ॥ ___191. When an occasion arises a wise bhikshu or bhikshuni should call sky as space (sky) or the esoteric path of commuting used by gods. He should use faultless language such as—the clouds are gathering, it is going to rain, it causes rain spontaneously or this cloud causes rain, or this cloud has caused rain.
This is the totality (of conduct including that related to knowledge) for the bhikshu or bhikshuni. Equipped with the five self-regulations he endeavours to follow the code of speech. -So I say.
