जीव अप्कायिक जीवों में अनन्त बार उत्पन्न हो चुका है। अतः उनके अस्तित्व का अपलाप करने का अर्थ है अपने अस्तित्व का अपलाप करना।
यहाँ पर निषेध के अर्थ में 'अभ्याख्यान' शब्द आया है, जो कई विशेष अर्थ रखता है। किसी के अस्तित्व को नकारना, सत्य को असत्य और असत्य को सत्य, जीव को अजीव, अजीव को जीव ख्यापित करना अभ्याख्यान-विपरीत कथन है। अर्थात् 'जीव को अजीव' बताना उस पर असत्य अभियोग लगाने के समान है।
Elaboration-Following the sequence, after informing about the earth-bodied beings, lok (world) has been interpreted as waterbodied beings. According to the commentator the word akutobhaya has two meanings-(1) that which does not cause fear to any being; discipline; and (2) that which does not desire fear; beings like waterbodied beings. Here stress is on the first meaning.
Nobody denies his own existence. But one who denies the existence of the minute water-bodied beings, in fact, denies his own existence. Because every being in the past has been born as a waterbodied being infinite times. Therefore to decry their existence means to decry ones own existence.
Here the word abhyakhyan has been used in negative sense and in a wider range. To deny existence of something, to establish a lie as truth and a truth as false, to show a being as non-being and a nonbeing as being, are all abhyakhyan or misstatement. To call a being non-being amounts to false accusation.
२४. लज्जमाणा पुढो पास। 'अणगारा मो' त्ति एगे पवयमाणा जमिणं विरूवरूवेहिं सत्थेहिं उदय-कम्मसमारंभेणं उदयसत्थं समारंभमाणे अण्णे वऽणेगरूवे पाणे विहिंसइ।
२४. तू देख ! प्रत्येक संयमी पुरुष (अप्काय की) हिंसा से विरत रहते हैं।
(उनको भी देख) जो अपने आप को गृहत्यागी कहते हैं, वे विविध प्रकार के शस्त्रों द्वारा जल-सम्बन्धी आरंभ-समारंभ करते हुए जल-काय के जीवों की हिंसा करते हैं। और साथ ही जल-काय में आश्रित अनेक प्रकार के अन्य जीवों की भी हिंसा करते हैं। ___24. See ! All disciplined persons feel ashamed (of violence towards water-bodied beings).
