विवेचन-'संधि' का अर्थ है छिद्र या अवसर। संधि दो प्रकार की होती है-द्रव्य संधि-दीवार आदि का छिद्र। भाव संधि-आत्म-विकास का अवसर। इसके तीन प्रकार हैं-सम्यग्दर्शन, सम्यग्ज्ञान और सम्यक्चारित्र। -
टीकाकार का अभिप्राय है, जैसे कारागार में बन्द अपराधी दीवार आदि में कहीं छेद मिलने पर उससे मुक्त होने का प्रयास करता है, वैसे ही मोह कारागार से मुक्त होने का यह जीवन एक अवसर है; इसको समझें। ___आचार्य महाप्रज्ञ जी के अनुसार यहाँ हिंसा-अहिंसा का प्रसंग होने से 'सन्धि' का अभिप्राय है हड्डियों का 'जोड़'। “सभी प्राणी जीना चाहते हैं, सबको अपने समान जीवन प्रिय है। आत्मा के समान दूसरों को समझने का यह दर्शन ही 'संधि' है, इसे जानकर किसी प्राणी की हिंसा न करें।" (आचारांग भाष्य, पृ. १८२) इसी आगम में अनेक प्रसंगों में 'संधि' शब्द आया है और उसके प्रसंगानुसार भिन्न-भिन्न अर्थ होते हैं। (विशेष शब्दार्थ; आचारांग भाष्य, पृ. ४७४)
जमिणं अण्णमण्णे-इस पद में यह सूचित किया है कि यदि कोई किसी विचिकित्सा-भय, प्रलोभन, दबाव या आशंका के कारण किसी की घात नहीं करता है तो इसमें उसका मुनि अथवा ज्ञानी होना कारण नहीं है, क्योंकि मुनि तो वह है जो पापकर्म न करने के संकल्प के साथ किसी की घात नहीं करता है।
Elaboration–Sandhi means breach or opportunity. It is of two types--physical, like a hole in a wall; and mental, like an opportunity for spiritual development. The latter in turn, is of three types—right perception, right knowledge and right conduct.
The commentator (Tika) explains that when a prisoner finds a breach in the wall of the prison he tries to free himself. In the same way this life is like a breach (opportunity) to free oneself from the prison of attachment. An ascetic should understand this.
According to Acharya Mahaprajna as the context is of violence and ahimsa, the meaning of sandhi is joint' here. He explains"Every being wants to live, everyone loves a life like his own. The philosophy of considering others like ones own self is sandhi. Knowing this, do not indulge in harming any being." (Acharanga Bhashya, p. 182). The word sandhi has been used frequently in this Agam and it has different meanings in different context.
