employed by an ordinary householder (an ignorant person). An ignorant and a wise both look at things and use them but their purpose, attitude and process of use are considerably different. An ignorant uses just for pleasure and taste whereas a wise uses it for his endeavour only.
काम-भोग विरति
९१. कामा दुरतिक्कमा । जीवियं दुप्पडिबूहगं ।
कामकामी खलु अयं पुरिसे से सोयइ जूरइ तिप्पइ पिड्डइ परितप्प |
९२. आयतचक्खू लोगविपस्सी लोगस्स अहोभागं जाणइ, उडूढं भागं जाणइ तिरियं भागं जाण । गढिए लोए अणुपरियट्टमाणे ।
संधिं वित्ता इह मच्चिएहिं ।
एस वीरे पसंसिए जे बद्धे पडिमोयए ।
९१. काम ( इच्छा - वासना) का पार पाना कठिन है। जीवन (आयुष्य ) को बढ़ाया नहीं |
जा सकता।
यह पुरुष काम-भोग की कामना करने वाला है ( किन्तु कामना परितृप्त नहीं हो सकती, इसलिए) वह शोक करता है ( काम की प्राप्ति न होने तथा वियोग होने पर ) खिन्न होता है फिर वह आँसू बहाता है या शरीर से जीर्ण हो जाता है, पीड़ा और परिताप ( पश्चात्ताप ) से दुःखी होता रहता है।
९२. वह आयतचक्षु - विशाल दृष्टि वाला लोकदर्शी होता है । वह लोक के अधोभाग को जानता है, ऊर्ध्व भाग को जानता है और तिरछे भाग को जानता है। वह यह भी जानता है - ( काम - भोग में) आसक्त पुरुष संसार में ( अथवा काम भोग के पीछे ) अनुपरिवर्तनपुनः पुनः चक्कर काटता रहता है।
यहाँ (संसार में) मनुष्यों के ( मरणधर्मा शरीर की ) संधि को जानकर (विरक्त हो) । वह वीर प्रशंसा के योग्य है जो ( काम-भोगों में) बँधे हुओं को मुक्त कराता है।
