He "begat" four sakhas, called after their respective founders, the Nagendra, the Chandra, the Nirvriti, and the Vidyadhara sakhas.
In the Chandra sakha or gachha there arose many sages. Abhayadeva's lineage begins here with:
1. Pradyumnasuri. His conversion of the King of Talapata City is referred to. He was succeeded by
2. Chandraprabha. Author of a Prabhatikajinastuti. He was succeeded by
3. Dhanesvara. He learned the science of magic from his dead teacher, and won over by its means the goddess of the City Samayu. He had four pupils
4. Virabhadra, Devasuri, Devabhadra, and Devendrasuri. In a gloss it is stated that according to other texts or authorities the third pupil's name was not Devabhadra, but Santisuri. The fourth of these pupils, Devendrasuri, was succeeded by
5. Bhadresvara. It was through being burnt up in the fire of his meditation that Kama got the name Ananga, (Compare 3, 39; and correct the remark in Previous Index of Authors. The epithets referred to belong to Bhadresvara). He was succeeded by
6. Abhayadeva, Asada's guru. He was succeeded by7. Haribhadra. He was succeeded by
8. Balachandra, Pradyumnasuri helped Balachandra with his book; and Ramachandra corrected it for him. See under those names.
