See Third Report, Text, p. 40. In the previous Index of Authors the date Samyat 1322 has been wrongly given as the date of the composition of Balachandra's Vivekamanjaritika. It is the date of the Cambay copy of the book. Asada flourished in Samvat 1248; and as Balachandra wrote at the request of the minister Jaitrasinha, son of Asada, his date must be put at about Samvat 1278. His commentary on Asada's Upadesakandali. 5, 42. Balachandra gives here the genealogy of Abhayadeva's, Asada's teacher; and continues it to himself as follows : 1. Vajra was succeeded by2. Virasena. This is the Vajrasena of the pattavalis.
