Akalanka
The Digambara poet and philosopher. See Bhandarkar, Report 83-84, p. 122. Manikyanandin's book on Nyaya is based on his. 4, App. Ip. 155, 156. Reference is made to the legend according to which Akalanka, when embarrassed in controversy with a Buddhist antagonist, discovered that the latter was being effectively prompted by " Mayadevi” concealed in a jar, and kicking the jar over with his foot, put an end to that inspiration. 4, 157. Referred to, along with Dharmakirti and others, as a writer on logic, 5, 148. He was a contemporary of the Rashtrakuta king Subhatunga or Krishnaraja I.
