The persons who pronounce the Pravara 10 given above may, according to Aʼśvaláyana and Abhinava-Mâdhaváchárya, intermarry with those who pronounce any other Pravara ; but, according to Purushottama and Kamalákara, they canuot intermarry with any of the descendants of Bharadyâia. The practice seems to be both ways. I consider that Abhinava-Mâdhavâchârya's view is correct, as it is supported by Vishņu Purâņa which says that Urukshaya's son, Kapi, was a kshatriya who became a Brâhman ; but, I have treated him as a Bhâradvâja in deference to the Nibandhanakâras. So, the Rishis of the families of both Bharadrâja and Visvâmitra appear in the Pravara ; and those who pronounce this Pravara cannot intermarry either with Dhara or Visvâmitras. #sini was the son of Garga. Asvalayana donbts whether (arga was really a descendant of Bharadvaja. According to Harivamsa, Garga was a kshatriya who became Brahman and hail a sou named Sini; and it is probably with reference to his that Asvalayana doubts. But Katyayana, a more important authority, says thau Garga was the son of Bharadvaja and all writers admit that his descendants cannot intermarry with the descondants of Bharadvaja,
