The Apabhramba Passages From ŚP
___1. the SP.:
The illustration of Avantya Apabhramsa (SP. p. 102). The text as given in
एकदू असळोणी अळ आहरणसुसंठवी अच्छि उपलंपटं वीवउकहिम्मळं
भट्टएवटपि अमइए। उणजाणिउं विरहातुरणुजूरि अएमज्झ हरोदावणुदिण्णुवहिणे द्विष्णूरि अ ए॥
Neither any clear word, and line-division, nor any sense can be made out of this jumble. It is tentatively suggested that the first line ends witho Susaṁ thavia, the second line begins with chiupala mpa etc. and ends with evatapia. The third line seems to be
मइ एउ न जाणिउं विरहातावण-जूरिअए (i.e. मया एतद् न ज्ञातं विरहातापन-खिन्नया)
The fourth line begins with majjhaha" etc, and ends with vinnūriae. Such a rearrangement gives us rhymes a b, c, d. Such an arrangement suggests that the metre is possibly a Sama-catuspadi type of Matra metre called Rasaka or Rasavalaya. See under no.2 below.
2. The illustration of latiya Apabhramsa (SP. p. 103) The text as given in the
SP.:
हिरउ हरन्त हो चोरहोए भुजिदन्दुहले जप्पिउपणव्व सच्छिले विलोइ अउगणे एहपुणपिण गणथणि संथहउक्कपणु जन्चन्दाणभेदिज्जइ अहरहोदन्तपणा ॥
The suggested reconstruction :
हिअउ हरंतहो चोरहो एहु जि दंडु हले जं पिउ एण-वसच्छि लेवि लाइअउ गले। एहु पुणु पीण-घणत्थणि संघट्टउ कवणु (?) जं चंदाणणे दिज्जइ अहरहो दंत-वणु ॥
The Sanskrit Chāyā :
हृदयं हरतः चौरस्य एषः एव दण्डः हले यद् प्रियः एण-वशाक्षि गहीत्वा लागितः गले । एषः पुनः पीन-घन-स्तने संघट्टः कः (?) यद् चन्द्रानने दीयते अधराय दन्त-व्रणः ॥
