Chapter VII Prakrit Verses In Sarasvati-Kanthabharana'

"Bhoja was one of the most illustrious kings of ancient and medieval India. He was justly famed as a great patron of poets and Literature, as a great builder of temples and as a literary man of no mean achievements. His two works on poetics, " Sarasvatikanthabharana" (SKA) and Sringaraprakasa, (SP) must have, been composed between 1005-1054, probably towards the close of Bhoja's career i. e. between 1030-1050 A. D.3. "It is generally accepted that the first work of Bhoja in Alamkāra is the SKA." It contains over 350°Prakrit verses (including illustrations in Apabhramsa). However, as SP is a largery work containing over 1650 Prakrit and Apabhramsa verses, it is given precedence in the present study.
