In reconstructing some of the highly corrut Prakrit passages, cited especially in Šrngäraprakāśa Sarasvatikanthabharana and Sahitya-mimamsă when I faced almost unsurmountable difficulties I used to refer the corrupt readings and my tentative emendations to my learned friends Prof. M, V. Patwardhan and Dr. H. C. Bhayani for their comments and suggestions for improved readings. Both of them used to reply promptly either approving my tentative emendations or suggesting better readings. Most of their suggestions I have followed in reconstructing the verses referred to them. Words fail me to express adequately my grateful indebtedness to both of them. I must also express my grateful thanks to Dr. H. C. Bhayani for his kind permission to include his papers dealing with Apabhraíśa passages, in Surigā raprakāśa and Sarasratikanthābharana as Appendix-I and Appendix-II respectively
I must also record my equally sincere thanks to my old professor, Dr A.M. Ghatage who in spite of his extremely strenuous schedule of work showed keen interest in my work and made valuable suggestions.
Finally, in spite of my sincere efforts to present the text as correctly as possible som errors in writing and printing have crept in inadvertently and unobserved. I have added at the end Corrections and Additions' correcting only glaring errors. The rest are such as can be easily corrected by the readers themselves. Many of the errors in printing are especially due to the distance between me and the press. I crave readers' indulgence for such otherwise avoidable errors.
