97. मंदरस्स णं पव्वतस्स पच्चत्थिमिल्लातो चरिमंतातो गोथुभस्स णं आवासपव्वयस्स पच्चत्थिमिल्ले चरिमंते एस णं सत्ताणउतिं जोयणसहस्साइं अबाधाते अंतरे पण्णत्ते । एवं चउद्दिसिं पि । अट्टहं कम्मपगडीणं सत्ताणउतिं उत्तरपगडीतो पण्णत्तातो । हरिसेणे णं राया चाउरंतचक्कवट्टी देसूणाई सत्ताणउतिं वाससयाइं ' अगारमज्झावसित्ता मुंडे भवित्ता णं अगारातो जाव पव्वतिते ।
The uninterrupted distance, between the two extreme ends, eastern of the mount Meru and western of the mountain dwelling Gostupa (of Nāgakumāra gods), is expounded ninety seven thousand yojana. Likewise, [to be related the distance of those dwelling mountains] in the four directions [from the mount Meru]. Ninety-seven sub-species of eight types of karma are expounded. King Harisena, the universal monarch [victorious in all the] four quarters [of Bharat region], after living little under nine thousand seven hundred years as a householder, having plucked hairs was initiated into monk hood from worldly life.
