THE KEY TO THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE
life would start and that the rest of our days will conform to a solemn pattern of reduced happiness. We learn to value our enthusiasm less than material and emotional stability - though in the long run all such stability either proves highly fleeting and built on quicksand, or solidifies life into a death-like state where nothing is able to move us any more.
In all this we follow the overwhelming example of our fellow people. With hardly any resistance we accept a life only occasionally inspired by fascination and enthusiasm, but that for the most part grinds us down in increasingly monotonous and dull routine.
Yet no matter how soothing this illusory stability appeals to us most of the time, it violently tears us apart when sometimes out of the blue we become aware how deeply we locked ourselves into desolate confining boundaries. We sense that this cannot possibly be everything, that life should offer more than stagnant resignation and ever diminishing real happiness. An almost irrational yearning for breaking loose, for carefree excitement, for daring adventure rises within us - the yearning for the very type of fascination that made us experience our youth so vividly.
If we detest to continue life in this unfulfilled longing, with these relentless, desperate bouts of disappointment, then we have to fundamentally alter our present situation, then we have to search for other worlds we can explore with the same enthusiasm that infused our youth with so much liveliness. If our present world becomes too narrow, too limited for us, then we need to find new ideals, values, objectives beyond these limits so that the fascination and intensity of our early life will rouse again.
THE KEY TO THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE describes how to discover a new, hidden world within us that becomes the more fascinating the deeper we venture into it. It is the path to the center of our consciousness that never was described in such clarity and practicability in our times. The path is independent of any philosophical orientation or faith and open to everyone without restriction.
