4. यदि कदाचित् पापकृत्य हो भी जाय तब भी पुनः-पुनः उसका आचरण कर उसका समूह न बनावे, जिससे कि उसे पुनः-पुनः जन्म ग्रहण करना पड़े।
प्रच्छन्न रूप से पाप किया हो तब भी द्रव्य, क्षेत्र, काल और भाव से, कर्म और अध्यवसाय पूर्वक सम्यक् प्रकार से निष्कपट-निश्छल हृदय होकर यथार्थरूप से उसकी आलोचना करे।
ऐसा अर्हत् संजय ऋषि बोले।
4. A sin once committed need not be repeated lest such acts might multiply and attain huge magnitude and result in reincarnation. If it were a sin in disguise or by implication, one should objectively scrutinize is spatially, temporally, metaphysically and ethically in a pure and dispassionate manner.
णवि अत्थि रसेहिं भद्दएहिं संवासेण य भद्दएण य।
जत्थ मिए काणणोसिते उवणामेति वहाए संजए।।5।। 5. मुझे सुस्वादु रसों और भव्य आवास-स्थानों से कोई प्रयोजन नहीं है। जहां संजय जंगलवासी मृग का वध करने के लिये जाता है अथवा मृग का वध करता है।
5. I have little regard for sumptuous meals and regal mansions where Sanjaya brings wild deer for sacrifice.
एवं से सिद्धे बुद्धे विरते विपावे दन्ते दविए अलं ताई णो पुणरवि इच्चत्थं हव्वमागच्छति त्ति बेमि।
संजइज्जं नामज्झयणं।। ___ इस प्रकार वह सिद्ध, बुद्ध, विरत, निष्पाप, जितेन्द्रिय, वीतराग एवं पूर्णत्यागी बनता है और भविष्य में पुनः इस संसार में नहीं आता है।
ऐसा मैं (अर्हत् संजय ऋषि) कहता हूँ। __ This is the means, then, for an aspirant to attain purity, enlightenment, emancipation, piety, abstinence and nonattachment. Such a being is freed of the chain of reincarnations.
Thus I (Sanjaya, the seer) do pronounce. संजय नामक उनतालीसवाँ अध्ययन पूर्ण हुआ।39।
