जाते हैं। इसी प्रकार कहीं कान, नाक, होंठ, जीभ का छेदन होता है। शिर दण्डित किया जाता है, मुंडित किया जाता है । उद्विग्न जीव का मर्दन किया जाता है, पीटा जाता है, तर्जित किया जाता है, प्रताड़ित किया जाता है, वध किया जाता है, बन्धनों से जकड़ा जाता है, बन्धनों से अत्यन्त दुःखी किया जाता है, जंजीर से बांधा जाता है, गाढबन्धनों से बांधा जाता है, जीवन पर्यन्त बांध कर रखा जाता है, श्रृंखला से बांधकर एक साथ कसे जाते हैं और मरोड़े जाते हैं, हृदय उखाड़ा जाता है, दांत उखाड़े जाते हैं, फांसी लगाकर लटकाया जाता है, नीचा लटकाया जाता है, घसीटा जाता है, रगड़ा जाता है, पिला (दबाया जाता है, पीठ की चमड़ी उतारी जाती है अथवा पुरुष चिह्न को नष्ट किया जाता है, कटाग्नि दाह में जलाया जाता है, भोजन - पानी रोका जाता है, दारिद्र्य से पीड़ित है, भोजन के अभाव से दुःखी है, शोकग्रस्त है। भाई-बहिन, पुत्र-पुत्री, पत्नी की मृत्यु तथा स्वजन, मित्र, और परिजनों के मरण से, उनकी दरिद्रता से और भोजनाभाव से शोकग्रस्त है । अप्रिय का संयोग, प्रिय का वियोग, अपमान, अवर्णवाद / निन्दा, घृणा, अत्यधिक व्यथा, पराजय तथा और भी अनेक दुःसह्य दुःख एवं दुःश्चिन्ताओं का अनुभव करता हुआ एकाकी आत्मा अनादि, अपरिमित, लम्बे रास्ते वाले चतुर्गतिरूप संसार समुद्र में परिभ्रमण करता है। भो मुमुक्षु ! कर्म से रहित होने पर यह जीव निश्चयतः पुनः नहीं आता है और हस्तच्छेदनादि से लेकर दुःसह्य दुःख एवं दुश्चिन्ता पर्यन्त के समस्त दुःखों से मुक्त हो जाता है तथा वह संसार रूप बीहड़ वन को पार कर, शिवरूप, अचल- स्थिर, अरुज - रोगरहित, अक्षय, अव्याबाध, पुनरागमन - रहित शाश्वत स्थान को प्राप्त कर स्थिति करता है।

A partial dissolution of karmas is sure to generate reincarnation. The individual has to suffer amputation or incarceration of extremities, ear-lobes, nose, lips and tongue. The skull is beaten or tonsured, the woe-begone individual variously pierced, hit, tortured, marauded, tethered like a cattle, chained and fettered all his life, bound and twisted, his heart is punctured denture is knocked out, he is hanged, sometimes hung low, dragged, bruised and sandwiched, skinned from the back, flogged, castrated, brandished, starved mealless and waterless. He is often penurious, hungry and bereft of brother, sister, son, daughter, consort and kins or anguished due to his poverty and other misfortunes. He suffers a juxtaposition with the enemy, bereavement of the friend, humiliation, infamy, hatred, anguish, defeat and intolerable woe and thus does he traverse along the interminable desolate course of four-fold destinies in the mundane existence.
